The Office of Research Subjects Protection is responsible for the institutional review of human and animal subjects research at Virginia Commonwealth University to ensure all research complies with federal, state, and local regulations.  The Institutional Review Board (IRB) must review and approve all research or modifications to research involving human subjects before a study may begin.
