A silent auction of local artwork, services and gifts raised more than $2,100 for the Child Development Center in Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Education. The money will be used to enhance the center’s playgrounds.

Paintings and crafts made by preschool-aged children enrolled at the center were among the hundreds of items up for bids at “A Silent Auction of Master Works.”

“This is an opportunity for the children to showcase their talents and bring parents together to interconnect with each other,” said center director Badiyyah Waajid. Parents make the invitations and coordinate logistics for the event.

The annual benefit was established in 1995 and was held this year in VCU’s Scott House.

The VCU Child Development Center provides quality, developmentally appropriate care and education for the children of VCU faculty, employees, students and the community. It serves children ages 16 months through six years. For more information, click here.
