Research
in Progress
The following research is currently in progress. If you would
like to find out more or be notified when the final
publication goes to print, email us with the research topic title and

Alignment of Classroom
Assessment with the SOLs
This study will examine how well classroom tests and quizzes
are aligned with the Standards of Learning. Data collection
will begin in spring 2004, and the study will be completed
fall 2004. Drs. Joan Rhodes and Valerie Robnolt are directing
the study.
School Culture and
Teacher Retention
The study of school culture and teacher retention will follow
from earlier research on retaining quality teachers. This
study will examine culture in greater depth to identify
factors that can be enhanced to increase teacher retention.
Data collection will begin in spring 2004, and the study will
be completed by June 2004. Dr. Beverly Epps is directing the
study.
Use of SOL Test Scores to
Improve Instruction
This study will examine best practice related to the use of
high-stakes standardized test results by teachers to improve
instruction. The study was completed spring, 2003. Dr. Jim
McMillan directed the study.
