Research Interests : My work focuses on promoting and supporting teacher leadership that enhances the quality of teaching and the teaching profession. As Director of the VCU School of Education Center for Teacher Leadership (CTL), I work with accomplished teachers throughout Virginia to (1) promote the concept of teachers as leaders of change; (2) develop more effective teacher leaders through access to information and high-quality training; and (3) share the knowledge, experience, and insight of teachers with policymakers and others. Our current projects include a support program for teachers seeking National Board Certification, training for clinical faculty, training teachers in the Santa Cruz New Teacher Center model of mentoring, developing an on-line course in teacher leadership, and the Virginia Teacher Leaders Network. CTL also conducts research on teacher leaders and teacher leadership issues. |
