Dr. Orelove’s primary area of specialization is learners with severe disabilities. Within the special education arena, Dr. Orelove has spoken and written extensively on teamwork, especially within a transdisciplinary model, and on inclusive education. He has served as principal investigator of several federal personnel preparation grants directed towards preparing teachers and other school personnel to serve students with severe disabilities. He is the VCU faculty member on the Virginia Consortium for Teacher Preparation in Severe Disabilities. More broadly, as executive director of the Partnership for People with Disabilities, Virginia’s university center for excellence in developmental disabilities, Dr. Orelove works towards inclusion and full participation within communities of all people.
