Research Interests : Dr. Reed-Victor’s primary areas of interest include infants and young children with developmental delays or disabilities and their families, as well as children and families living in poverty, particularly those experiencing homelessness. "I am especially interested in protective processes within family, school and community contexts that support resilience and adaptability in young children." Involvement with ISADOR at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) supports these interests, through networking with other VCU faculty and community members who are interested in resilience-related research.
Our graduate program in Early Childhood Special Education prepares students for careers in Early Intervention (with infants, toddlers, and families) as well as Early Childhood Special Education (with preschoolers and their families through school and community-based programs). We are fortunate to have the support and enrichment of several projects that also are based at VCU. Our current federal personnel preparation project, New Connections, gives students numerous opportunities to develop interdisciplinary knowledge and skills with graduate students in Early Childhood Education, Nursing, Physical Therapy, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, and Social Work. Some tuition support is available through this project. We are also fortunate to have the close link with the VCU Training and Technical Assistance Center (T/TAC) which provides important training and technical assistance resources for students and professionals. |
