Facts About Suicide:
In the years 1989-1998, 307,973 people died as a result of suicide.
Suicide is the 8th leading cause of death for all Americans, including children.
Between 1952 and 1995, the incidence of suicide among adolescents and young adults nearly tripled.
More teenagers and young adults die from suicide than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia and influenza, and chronic lung disease, COMBINED.
In 1999, approximately 1 out of every 13 high school students reported making a suicide attempt in the preceding 12 months.
