PH.D. IN EDUCATION

General Requirements

General admission requirements for the Ph.D. in Education Program include the following:

  1. Graduation from an accredited college or university. Two official copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts are required as part of the admissions application.
  2. A minimum GPA of 3.4 on all graduate work attempted.
  3. Above average scores on the Aptitude Section of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Test Scores must not be more than five years old.
  4. Three letters of recommendation from individuals who can address the candidate’s academic performance.
  5. In a single statement of 2-3 pages, the applicant should describe his or her work experience and previous and current leadership roles. The statement should also identify and explain the applicant’s personal career goals and how they have emerged from one’s work experience. The statement should also explain the manner in which the doctoral program will enhance the career goals as well as what the applicant expects to contribute to the program.
  6. A professional vitae indicating educational experience, career experience and leadership potential.
  7. Name, address and phone number of supervisor.

In addition, each candidate will be required to participate in a faculty interview and to complete a timed writing sample on campus. Please note that only completed applications will be reviewed.
